Corning LANscape solution with InfiniCor SX+ fiber selected for Singapore Biopolis

Corning Incorporated announced that its LANscape solution for premises networks, including Corning InfiniCor SX+ optical fiber, has been deployed in Biopolis, a biomedical research and development hub in the Singapore master-planned business zone called "one-north."

The Biopolis, dedicated to biomedical sciences research and development, is being developed by the JTC Corporation, Singapore's largest developer of industrial parks. Several key government agencies, publicly-funded research institutes, and research and development labs for pharmaceutical and biotech companies are located in the park. Construction of the Biopolis's seven buildings was completed in the first half of 2004.

Corning is a world-leading supplier of optical fiber, cable, hardware, and equipment. Corning Cable Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Corning Incorporated, is an industry-leading manufacturer of fiber optic and copper communications network infrastructure solutions, including the LANscape solution, a complete offering of optical fiber products, services, and support for private networks, supporting growing bandwidth requirements. As part of the LANscape solution, the Biopolis project includes Corning Cable Systems' multipurpose indoor/outdoor cable, UniCam MTRJ connectors, universal patch panels, and jumpers.

InfiniCor SX+ multi-mode fiber offers 10Gbps bandwidth for streaming video, medical imaging, and other bandwidth-intensive applications, and higher data aggregation in the building and campus backbone of the Biopolis network. Like all InfiniCor fibers, InfiniCor SX+ fiber is optimized for 850nm lasers, guaranteeing the lowest-cost network solution. Every InfiniCor fiber is measured and qualified with industry-leading laser bandwidth measurements during the manufacturing process, ensuring the highest quality and reliability in laser-based premises applications.

"We are delighted to be a part of this state-of-the-art investment in Singapore's technology market," said Michael Teo, regional manager, Corning International Singapore. "By deploying Corning's reliable, high-performing InfiniCor fiber, Biopolis will offer robust, flexible network connectivity for critical life sciences research for years to come."
