HP Captures Competitive Edge as First Vendor to Offer Free Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Upgrade - Product Information
Hewlett-Packard Company Monday announced that it is the first notebook PC vendor to offer its customers a free(1) Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional upgrade. The upgrade is offered on HP OmniBook notebook PCs installed with Windows NT Workstation 4.0. Windows 2000 READY HP OmniBook notebook PCs coupled with the free upgrade ensure customers will have an easy transition to the new operating system when it becomes available.

Beginning today, customers who purchase HP OmniBook 4150 or 900 notebook PCs with Windows NT Workstation 4.0 will receive a coupon redeemable for a free upgrade to Windows 2000 Professional when the new operating system becomes available. HP OmniBook 4150 and 900 notebook PCs are designed to optimize the features of Windows 2000 Professional, including enhanced plug-and-play and power-management solutions, offering customers increased security and stability, enhanced performance and a single companywide operating system for desktop and notebook PCs.
